The ‘We Heart You: Recovery In Our Community’ event was about giving people in recovery a platform. A platform to speak and share their story in a room where it would be welcomed. It was a place where the broader community came to listen, learn, connect, and share resources. The event bridged the gap between the local recovery community and the rest of the community. Many attendees said it was the most heartwarming event they had ever attended! Many people with lived experience showed the courage to get on stage and share a piece of their story, which provided hope and a sense of not being alone. People in recovery left knowing they were in a community that cared, and volunteers, professionals, family members, and the general community left feeling energized to see how they could do more to help. What we all witnessed that day was a little bit magical. It was our county on its best day.
